Finding Refuge in Kanchanaburi: Reaching Out to the Children of Lehwahtoo’s House

The quiet, scenic landscapes of Kanchanaburi are usually known for their natural beauty and historical significance. However, tucked away in this region is a place of profound hope and desperate need: Lehwahtoo’s House.

This April, our missionary team is preparing to make a critical journey to this refuge to support our fellow missionary, Bro. Lehwahtoo, and the extraordinary children in his care. We are asking you, our beloved community, to help us make this mission possible.

The Heartache and the Hope

The civil unrest in Myanmar has left thousands of families displaced, creating a humanitarian crisis. Among the most vulnerable are the children. The kids living at Lehwahtoo’s House—over 30 of them—are survivors of this conflict. They have fled violence, loss, and trauma, seeking safety across the border.Through the grace of God, these 30+ children have found sanctuary. Our dedicated co-missionary, Bro. Lehwahtoo, and his family have opened their hearts and their home to these young victims. They are not just providing shelter; they are offering safety, love, and a sense of family to children who have known too much hardship. But love alone cannot fill empty stomachs or clothe growing bodies. Bro. Lehwahtoo’s resources are stretched thin as he manages a household of 30+ traumatized children, ensuring they have stability and care.

Our Mission: Delivering Aid, Restoring Joy

From April 3-5, 2026, our team from Mission Nomad will be heading to Kanchanaburi. We aren't going just to visit; we are going with a purpose. Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, delivering tangible relief directly to Lehwahtoo’s House. We have identified the most urgent needs for these children, many of whom arrived with almost nothing:

Clothes: Basic, clean clothing is a necessity that is currently scarce.

Food: We need non-perishable food items, rice, and cooking supplies to ensure they are well-fed.

Toys and Joy: Especially for the younger children, a simple toy represents a return to a childhood lost to war.

A Call to Your Merciful Heart.

As we prepare for this journey, we are knocking at your merciful hearts. We cannot do this alone, and we are asking for your help to fill our trucks with supplies for these deserving kids.

If you have any spare goods—gently used clothes, non-perishable food items, or toys—that you are willing to donate, we will gladly take them. Every item you give goes directly into the hands of a child who needs it.

We are reminded of the promise in 2 Corinthians 9:7:

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

If you find it in your heart to cheer these children on, please consider donating. Your generosity will bring hope to a sanctuary in Kanchanaburi.

How You Can Get Involved Now

If you have goods to donate, or if you have any questions about the outreach, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We are ready to coordinate collections as we prepare for our departure on April 3.

We also ask for your prayers—for safe travels for our team, for the health and safety of Bro. Lehwahtoo and his family, and, above all, for healing and peace for the children in their care.Thank you for your kindness and your commitment to supporting the "least of these."
